Okay. I have a confession to make. Its an embarassing one, but I have to come clean.
I'm a WWE fan.
*hangs head in shame*
Back in the days of Stone Cold and The Rock I used to be a fan too. I used to stay up late to talk to my friend in Florida and I'd watch while we were on the phone.
Recently, as some of you may have heard, Chris Benoit killed his wife and son and then hung himself. Not a happy story. Probably not what the marketing people at the WWE had in mind for bringing new viewers, but it got me watching again.
I'm totally hooked. I'm completely drawn in by the storylines, I'm rooting for the good guys (or "faces as they're known in the game) and booing the bad guys ("heels"). Every Monday for the last two months I've taped Raw on Monday night and every Friday I've watched Smackdown. I watched the Great American Bash. Tonight, its Summerslam. At 1am I'll be up watching. With a beer of course. I've got some french bread and steak in case I feel like I need a steak-sandwich-snackette throughout the show. And some Pringles. And chocolate.
Its strange that I've ended up interested again. I recently gave a co-worker of mine some real shit for admitting he watched it (If you're reading, you know who you are and I'm sorry!) because I thought it was stupid.
Now, I can see that its like a soap. I'm not really a soap fan, they're depressing (Eastenders anyone?) but this is different. Its engrossing. Its not anything to do with the half naked men with hot bodies writhing around on the floor. It really isn't. The prevalence of the "Bloody hell that looked like it hurt!" moments puts a stop to its erotic appeal unfortunately. I don't want to be bled on, you know?
Vince McMahon has an ilegitimate child. Its one of the Superstars on the roster (what are the chances?!) and I'm racking my brain to try and work out who it is.
John Cena and Randy Orton are fighting tonight for the Championship. Besides the fact that I think John Cena is pretty damn foxy (only downside being that he's a white boy who raps) its been a great rivalry to watch build over the last few weeks and I'm hoping Orton gets his ass kicked. Hard.
Batista is going up against The Great Khali, who no one has been able to beat for weeks. Batista is so incredibly cool and I'm totally rooting for him because Khali is mean and I don't like him.
I'll stop there, even though there are about 5 more big fights. I'm sure most of you have glazed over for most of the post.
Well, with that off my chest I'm off to put more beer on to chill. We're Summerslam minus 2h 50m...

No judgement here! I don't know a thing about WWE but I do like that you're watching with chocolate and anything that involves chocolate has to be kinda ok...so yay!

Hope you enjoyed the WWE. I don't know a thing about it either but if it involves chocolate then it can't be all bad lol!

Ruby - Chocolate and beer. The beer was really the most important of the snacking elements. I agree though, most things involving chocolate are good. A bit like things that involve sour cream (potato skins, nachos etc).
Clare - It was fantastic thank you, although I didn't get to sleep until gone 5:30 because I was so buzzed!

I used to be a WWE fan!
My brother watched it all the time. I used to sit there watching it with him, pretending like I wasn't interested.

I think it's great that you like it. I used to watch as a kid... I should probably check it out again because I really loved it then. Everyone needs a guilty pleasure!

ha ha hilarious! (although I have NO IDEA what you're talking about!!) (as I really only rarely watch tv)

thethinker - I've done that before now. Usually adding a "God this is so pathetic" or a "is there really nothing better on?" when actually I'm secretly hooked!
LV - Unfortunately its not my only guilty pleasure, but its the one least likely to empty my bank account and pile on the pounds! Yu definitely should check it out again - theres a lot to be said for mindless escapism!
Peach - In short its muscley-men writhing about on the floor with a smattering of a soap-esque storyline. You've got goodies and baddies and the obligatory playboy models who "fight" too. Its not going to win the nobel prize or inspire generations, but its a nice way of shutting off from the bollocks of reality for a while!

I just had to comment....you're not alone. Haven't watched in a while but I once stood in line for about 5 hours for tickets and for the longest I was the only female in line just because I wanted to go to the match and see Sting....

I think I used to fanc Vince's son? (Not the illig. one) (Also, if the son I mean is really ugly, I must be mistaken and having a memory lapse)

Dawn - Thank you for your comment, I love new readers/commenters, so welcome! I'm so glad I'm not alone, I think there are a few more secret fans out there you know!
Golden Touch - Another new commenter - hurrah! Welcome and all that! I think you mean Shane, who isn't too tough on the eyes - I can see the attraction. Might be worth waiting to see who the illegitimate son is though, you could trade up ;O)
