I want a pair of plain black leather stilettos with a pointed toe and a 4 inch heel.
I don't want any buckles or bows. I don't want an ankle strap (shortens the leg you see). I don't want patent leather. I don't want 2 1/2 inch heels. I don't want a platform, or a block heel. I don't want an almond shaped toe. Or a round one. Or a square one. I just want plain black stilettos with a pointed toe and a 4 inch heel.
They're possibly the most simple shoes in the world ever and nowhere seems to sell them.
Patent is very in at the moment so everywhere has patent leather in varying shades. Dolly shoes are in, so lots of things have straps across the front.
But what about the people who aren't out for trendy shoes?
I've looked on countless websites - the closest I seem to find are shoes on fetish sites but they're a 5 inch heel and thats just stupid.
I've seen lots of other shoes that I'd like - one pair in particular meets all my criteria for the above except they're metallic red stilettos with a pointed toe and a 4 inch heel. Beautiful, but not what I want. Also not worth spending £50 on when I know I'll only wear them once if I'm lucky.
Plain black leather stilettos with a pointed toe and a 4 inch heel though, have a multitude of uses. Out for dinner, in the pub, casual lunch with friends, at the office, in the bedroom. They're very practical shoes.
Why is it in life the simplest things are always the most elusive?

Whoever got the patent on leather has go to be VERY RICH NOW.
Your last line may be the most touching and profound thing I've ever read on a blog. Like love, peace, understanding, joy and happiness. All quite simple states, all quite elusive, like ghosts in shadows, like the ship that hasn't come in yet.

I wasn't really paying a lot of attention until you said "...in the bedroom".
I think I have stripped a thread.

Try Stuart Weitzman. And I don't know if they ship to the UK, but www.zappos.com usually has great selection. I'm with you, I always want simple and classic things. Best of luck!

Because people don't realize simplicity is usually best option.
PS: About the bedroom usage of the stilettos--care to explain what you have in mind? ;-)

All I can say is good luck in your pursuit.

Sounds fabulous. I think a simple black stiletto is very sexy.

Hope you manage to find the shoes you want.

I had the same dilemma recently. I couldn't find what I wanted so I ended up with a four inch black patent leather. They are extremely cute, but they're not practical for every occassion. Good luck on your quest!

Bob - Good to see you! You're absolutely right. After I read the post I realised that perhaps it was my shallow conscous's way of my subconscious expressing that exact notion.
Cosmo - Its nice to have little surprises in posts!
LV - Thanks for the recommendation - I managed to find a total bargain on ebay and they're exactly what I was after.
Kenneth - Come on now, a man of the world like yourself doesn't need me to explain that - does he?
Travis - Thank you!
Deb - I couldn't agree more! Its classy, its simple, its elegant and most importantly it goes with almost anything!
Clare - I hope you're well! I'm thrilled to bits with what I've found, so comes an end to one quest. I'm sure the next will be right around the corner.
Beth - The patent ones are very cute - its just not quite what I was after. The only thing I can recommend is ebay, ebay, ebay. I got a total bargain and exactly what I wanted.
Ing - Thank you, I've updated the details in both my favourites and I'll sort my links out too.

Next time, try ALDO (www.aldoshoes.com) - they're great shoes, something for everyone, decent quality but not too pricy. They currently have a style called GUILLEMINA (in the Dress Fashion section) that seems to fit your bill perfectly!
