I'm having one of those days today. You know the ones where you question whether its even worth you being where you are?
I feel like that at work today. Things are bothering me and I've had a brief temper tantrum which led me to go and stand outside for a moment just to cool off (takes a lot to push me to this, but its what I do rather than find the person who caused the problem and beat them). I've now hit the point of apathy. Where you realise some brick walls aren't the right ones to bash your head against. No one really wants a bashed in head, after all (although some people really are asking for it at times!).
Right now, I'm supposed to be at lunch. I'm not hungry. I didn't feel like walking out to get food. I'm sitting with my ipod on, blocking out the buzz of office noise with assorted rock. My playlist is at the bottom of the post, just in case anyone is curious as to what I use to calm down. As music goes, its not that calm. I will have to eat at some point this afternoon. I've got crisps, half a box of Mint Poppets (I think these are like Junior Mints for anyone the other side of the pond) and there's definitely a Strawberry Cornetto in the freezer because I bought it on Tuesday and didn't eat it then. Its not Ice Cream weather but who cares.
I've managed to achieve one thing on my list below which was to get Google Reader up and running. How did I not do this sooner? Its genius. I can't quite explain the joy of not having to have 30 tabs open in Firefox just to check and see if someone has updated. It means I can actually check my regular blogs more regularly than once a week because it allows me to be lazy and do what I need to do at the same time. I'm very impressed. Perhaps I ought to try and do more things on the list, perhaps they'll impress me too!
I've been in search of my first "For Dummies" book and couldn't find what I wanted. I really want "Scientology for Dummies". I try not to make wild stabbing judgements on religious ideas until I've read something about. It seems that they aren't really up for the whole "For Dummies" thing. Instead, I gave in and bought Dianetics off of ebay. It'll probably just sit on the bookshelf with all of the other crap I buy because I love books but don't read.
I've got some ideas for posts in my head, so I'm planning on increasing my post frequency somewhat. While looking hungrily at the Smitten Kitchen blog, I realised that I have quite a lot of food-linked memories. I suppose most of us do, its the whole sense thing. I can think of at least three different stories at the moment, although there's a possibility I'll only post two of them because perhaps the third is a little disgusting to share. Athough maybe the disgusting stories make the best reading. We'll see...

Through Glass - Stone Sour
Stacked Actors - Foo Fighters
Good to Go - John Corbett

You like John Corbett too? Dude, I was totally gonna go see him the other week, because him and his band were playing at a bar in town, but he got sick and canceled. Personally, I think he's still pining over Carrie.
And I love that you have Gretchen in your iPod! Although, I must admit, knowing that a fabulous Brit, such as yourself is singing "Cause I'm a redneck woman and I ain't no high class broad! I'm just a product of my raisin' and I say "hey y'all" and "Yee Haw" makes me laugh!

Ah! Hope everything gets much better. There are times when I basically want to pull everyone's eyes out.

Nothing like a little Whiplash by Metallica to help find one's peaceful centered calm place ;)

Hope your day got better Beth and you enjoyed that cornetto.
Thanks for explaining about Google Reader. I'd never heard of it but I'll certainly go and check it out as lazy is my middle name.

David - I love John Corbett. Not just because he's an incredibly sexy older man. Not even just because he's 6'5. But mostly because he's really quite talented. I'd have loved to have gone to see him do a gig, but I don't suppose he has much of a fanbase over here. As for Gretchen - I *love* that song. I'm not a redneck at all, but I kind of empathise with the point of the song. I can be classy when I need to, but I'm a beer and pizza sort of a girl rather than champagne and canapes.
Ruby - They say variety is the spice of life. In spite of that varied little playlist, I still get grief at work for not liking the same stuff they all do. Them being fans of house music and rap. As far as I'm concerned the new rap sucks, bring back A Tribe Called Quest is all I can say.!
Kenzie - When you have an office job, you generally get that urge around once a day. Its not easy.
Bob - James, Kirk, Lars and Rob are the ultimate in meditative music for me!
Clare - The cornetto was fab. I hadn't had one since last summer when I grabbed one at the shop on the way into work one morning for breakfast at about 7:30! Definitely check out google reader. I'm a convert. Imagine it. All of your blogs, all in one place! Genius!
