It still hurts.
Its not the worst pain ever, but the little things hurt. Like kicking the sheets in the middle of the night, or forgetting and putting all my weight on one foot.
Little things like getting in and out of the tub are so very not fun because its a combined fear of "oh my god my foot is going to hurt" and "what if it really hurts and I slip and lose my balance and make it worse".
Below are a couple of pictures of the brusing. Very sexy indeed. The first day the bruising had barely started to come out but I had it elevated:
Here's day two, the bruising is starting to show a bit:
And today...the purple is starting to come out:
I'm not looking forward to seeing it tomorrow as the bruising seems to be spreading further around my foot each day. Oh dear.
When I called into work today the bosses PA said she didnt expect to see me back before next week but I don't know if I can stay home that long. I feel guilty leaving the rest of the team in the lurch as there will only be two of them and one person being off can make a major difference to workload. The flipside is that I don't want to go back too soon and make it worse.
I'm going to see how I feel in the morning, I'll probably go in and see how the day goes.
Unfortunately it means finding office-appropriate flat shows (I always wear heels at work) and even in hot weather wearing thick enough tights to cover the ugliness.
Foot injuries suck.

Hope you get on alright today at work, don't try and do too much too soon and rest when you can.
Hugs

Aha! So perchance the heels had something to do with your spill? I for one struggle in anything higher than 1/2 inch. And even in those I think I wobble. I admire those of you who can walk with panache in tacones altas ... but be careful!

Yup. As do hand injuries. I think they should really have an extremity appreciation day on the calendar.

Roses - Thank you, I actually didn't go back on Thursday, I held off and went back in on Friday. It wasn't too bad, I can just about walk ok now thank goodness!
Clarissa - Here's the thing - I was barefoot when I fell. I was about to crawl under a desk and if I'd had pointy shoes on it would have been really uncomfortable, so I took them off. I think if I'd been in heels we'd have been talking a definite break rather than just a sprain!
Deb - After this, every day is extremity appreciation day for me! Its given me a nudge to start taking better care of myself, which is long overdue.

Foot injuries are very painful because you can't rest your foot in the way that you might be able to rest another part of your body when injured. Just consider yourself lucky you didn't break it!
High heels and related foot/ankle injuries are extremely common. Throw the high heels in the bin - you are sexy enough without them!
Good luck with the recovery. The bruising does look really nasty.

Oh poor Dear! I'm sorry about your fall and the injury. I think you should take it easy, enjoy the time-off by reading or simply being lazy. Or post some more blog posts from the comfort of your bedroom as you recover. (Nice legs!) :-P

tbc Katic - I'm all better now and extremely grateful that nothing was broken!
Kenneth - I watched a hell of a lot of daytime TV. There was a bumper crop of shows about serial killers that week, so I'm all clued up onthat now. Thank you for the compliment by the way, much appreciated!
Roses - Better, way better thanks honey!
Deb - Thats ok, I'm ok now thank goodness!
